Mikazuki, Eastwood

⭐️ Japanese izakaya vibes with a modern twist

🔍

We were in the mood for something comforting but elevated — and I’d heard Mikazuki had opened in Eastwood, bringing their signature donburi and izakaya-style share plates to the heart of Sydney’s Little Japan. It came highly recommended for wagyu lovers.

🪑

Moody lighting, timber accents, and minimalist decor set the tone. It has that chic, clean Japanese aesthetic but with a bustling, casual energy. Perfect for date night or dinner with mates who appreciate quality ingredients.

🍚

Ultimate Wagyu Beef Don

The name says it all — ultimate. Melt-in-your-mouth wagyu sirloin draped over fluffy Japanese rice, with pops of texture and flavour from the crispy onion, foie gras (yes, foie gras!), onsen egg, and ameyaki sauce. Every bite was balanced with richness and that sharp hint of nama wasabi to cut through. It also came with a mini salad and miso soup, which were solid and refreshing palate cleansers. Would absolutely order again.

🌮

Spicy Sashimi Taco

Think poke meets izakaya. A delicate yet punchy combo of fresh sashimi cubes, kimchi, spicy mayo, vinaigrette, and avocado, served in a crispy taco shell. Crunchy, creamy, zingy — a fusion bite that actually works. I loved this way more than I thought I would.

🍤

Spicy Yuzu Shrimp

These popcorn-sized tempura prawns were coated in a creamy spicy sauce and paired with a crispy rice ball — kind of like an elevated snack you didn’t know you needed. The yuzu brought in a brightness that made it feel less heavy than your usual fried prawn dish. Crunchy, zingy, a little bit sweet. Could eat a whole bowl.

👀Next time I’m eyeing their desserts — the matcha brûlée looked like a vibe.

Mikazuki Eastwood is a level up from your usual casual Japanese — with premium ingredients, polished flavours, and enough edge to make every dish feel special. If you’re into wagyu, raw fish, or anything with spicy mayo, you’ll feel very seen here.

Thanks for feeding us right, Mikazuki 🍚🔥
